The Yamaha DT 250 motorcycle was produced from 1979-1980 and had a two-stroke, single cylinder engine with a capacity of 246 cc. Its compression ratio was 6.8:1 and it had a single 28mm Mikuni VM28SS induction with an autolube lubrication system. The ignition was external-rotor magneto with CDI and a six-volt battery, and the bike had a kick start. The maximum power output was 17 hp at 6000 rpm and the maximum torque was 20.7 Nm at 5500 rpm.
