The Yamaha XV 1000 Virago was a motorcycle produced between 1984 and 1985. It had a four-stroke, 75-degree V-twin engine with a capacity of 981cc and a compression ratio of 8.3:1. The bike used two Hitachi carburetors with transistorized ignition and an electric starter. It could produce up to 64hp and 7.7 kgf-m of torque. The motorcycle had a five-speed transmission and came with a shaft for the final drive. The bike had a pressed steel spine type frame, with 38mm leading axle air-assisted forks for the front suspension and dual shock absorbers adjustable for spring preload providing 97mm of wheel travel for the rear. It had two 267mm discs with two-piston calipers for the front brakes and a drum brake for the rear. The bike had a wet weight of 235 kg and a fuel capacity of 14 litres or 3.8 US gallons. The Yamaha XV 1000 Virago could do standing quarter-mile runs in 13.1 seconds at a top speed of 158.5 km/h and boasted a top speed of 189.9 km/h.
