Kawasaki Versys 1000 (2017-18)

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 (2017-18) is a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder motorcycle with a capacity of 1043cc/63.6 cu-in. With a maximum power of 86.8 kW / 118 hp @ 9000 rpm and a maximum torque of 102 Nm / 10.4 kg-fm @ 7700 rpm, it has a compression ratio of 10.3:1 and forced lubrication, wet sump lubrication. The fuel injection is A,38 mm x 4 (Keihin) with oval sub-throttles and digital CBI ignition that starts electrically. The Versys 1000 has a wet multi-disc clutch, manual transmission, chain drive and a primary reduction ratio of 1.627 (83/51). The gearbox has a total of six-speed gear ratios between 1st gear: 2.692 (35/13) and 6th gear: 0.958 (23/24), and a final reduction ratio of 2.867 (43/15).

The frame of the Versys 1000 is an aluminium twin-tube design, while the front suspension features a 43 mm inverted fork with stepless rebound damping and spring preload adjustability, and the rear suspension is a horizontal back-link, gas-charged, with step-less rebound damping and remote spring preload adjustability. Both provide up to 150 mm/5.9 in of wheel travel.

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 has dual front discs measuring 300 mm with four-piston calipers and a single rear 250 mm disc with a one-piston caliper. It has 120/70 ZR17 front tyres and 180/55 ZR17 rear tyres with a 27-degree rake and 107 mm/4.2 in of trail. Additionally, it measures 2240 mm/88.1 in in length, 895 mm/35.2 in in width, and 1400 mm/55.1 in in height with a wheelbase of 1520 mm/59.8 in, 150 mm/5.9 in of ground clearance, and a seat height of 840 mm/33.0 in. The wet weight of the bike is 249 kg/548 lbs with a fuel capacity of 21 litres/5.5 US gal.
