Kawasaki GPX400R (1987-90)

The Kawasaki GPX 400R or EX400 Ninja was a motorcycle model produced from 1987 to 1990. It had a four-stroke, parallel twin cylinder, DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder and a capacity of 398cc or 24.3 cu-in. The bore x stroke was 70 51.8 mm, and it was liquid-cooled. The compression ratio was 10.7:1, and lubrication was via a wet sump. The carburetor provided the fuel, and the ignition was controlled by transistor. It had a maximum power of 50 hp or 36.5 kW at 10500 rpm and maximum torque of 3.6 kgf-m at 9000 rpm. The clutch was wet, multiple discs, cable-operated, and the transmission had six speeds. The final drive was chain. The frame was iron, double cradle frame, and the front suspension was 38mm telescopic forks. The front wheel travel was 130 mm or 5.1 in, and the rear suspension was swinging arm, single shock adjustable for spring preload. The rear wheel travel was 100 mm or 3.9 in. The front brake had two discs, and the rear brake had a single disc. The front tire was 110/70-17, and the rear tire was 130/70-17. The dry weight was 177 kg or 390 lbs, and the fuel capacity was 16 liters or 3.9 US gal.
