The Ducati Monster 600 was manufactured from 1996-97 and is a four-stroke motorcycle with a 583cc capacity engine composed of a 90-degree L twin cylinder, SOHC, and desmodromic 2 valves per cylinder. It has a compression ratio of 10.7:1 and a wet sump lubrication system that operates on synthetic, 10W/40 engine oil. The induction system is comprised of two 38mm Mikuni carburetors and it runs on a 12V 16Ah battery with an electric starter. The maximum power output is 38.7 kW / 53 hp at 8250 rpm and the maximum torque output is 48.00 Nm / 4.9 kgf-m / 35.4 ft-lb at 7000 rpm. The transmission is a 5-speed manual operated by wet clutch, and the bike has a steel trellis frame. The front suspension uses a 40 mm Marzocchi inverted telescopic fork with a 120mm/4.7in travel, while the rear suspension employs a boge rising rate monoshock on a 136mm/5.4in travel. Front and rear brakes use a single 320mm/4-piston caliper and 245mm/2-piston caliper, respectively. The bike has a dry weight of 174 kg/383 lbs with a fuel capacity of 16 litres/4.2 US gal/3.5 Imp gal, achieving an average fuel consumption of 5.1 L/100km or 46.3 US mpg / 55.6 Imp mpg. It has a top speed of 191.9 km/h / 119.2mph and is available in colors red, yellow, black, and silver gray. Road tests were conducted by Tuttomoto in 1994.
