Bimota YB9 Bellaria (1990)

The Bimota YB9 Bellaria is a motorcycle produced in 1990 with only 145 units ever made. It has a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, and DOHC 4 valves per cylinder engine with a capacity of 599cc. The bike has a maximum power of 95hp at 10500rpm and a maximum torque of 68.5Nm at 8500rpm. The chassis of the bike is made of two diagonal beams in section bar made of aluminum with internal ribbing, and the swing arm is also made of aluminum. The front suspension includes 42mm Marzocchi forks with an anti-dive system and a hydraulic brake, while the rear suspension includes a Marzocchi single shock. The bike has two 320mm discs with four-piston calipers for the front brakes and a single 267mm disc with a two-piston caliper for the rear brakes. Its top speed is 147.3 mph, and it can go from 0 to 60 in 12.8 meters. Despite its similarities to the VFR750 Honda, the Bellaria wasn’t as stunning as expected, and its Yamaha FZR600-powered chassis wasn’t exceptional compared to its Japanese rival.

YB9 Bellaria – Bearing a strange resemblance to the VFR750 Honda of the late 1980s, the Bellaria wasn’t the outrageous stunner that many expected. In addition, it’s Yamaha FZR600 powered chassis wasn’t in another dimension compared to its rival from Japan. The FZR600 was one of the sweetest handling – and fastest – mid sized bikes of the Eighties in fact. One of Bimota’s off days? Read the feature and find out.:
