The Yamaha XS250 DOHC was a 1984 model motorcycle with a four stroke, 180 degrees parallel twin, DOHC engine and a capacity of 248cc. It had a compression ratio of 10.1:1 and was air-cooled with a wet sump lubrication system. The bike featured 2x 32mm Mikuni carburetors and coil and cb ignition, and starting was by kick. The maximum power was 30 hp (22.3 kW) at 10,000 rpm and the maximum torque was 2.2 kgf-m (15.2 lb-ft) at 8,500 rpm. The clutch was a wet multiplate type and the transmission had six speeds, with final drive via chain. The frame was a duplex cradle, with telescopic forks at the front and dual shocks at the rear, which were swing arm mounted and 5-position preload adjustable. The front brake was a single 267mm disc and the rear brake was a drum of 178mm diameter. The front tyre had a size of 3.00-18 and the rear tyre was 3.50-18. The wheelbase measured 1359 mm (53.5 in) and the seat height was 810 mm (31.8 in). The dry weight was 165.5 kg (365 lbs) and the wet weight was 174 kg (392.4 lbs). The fuel tank capacity was 14 litres (3.7 US gal).
