Gilera RC 125 Rally (1987-89)

The Gilera RC 125 Rally was a motorcycle produced from 1987 to 1989. It had a two-stroke, single cylinder, reed valve engine with a capacity of 124cc/7.6cu-in and a compression ratio of 13.0:1. The Dell’Orto premix induction system and electric ignition with capacitive output enabled a maximum power output of 24hp/18kW at 9250rpm and a maximum torque of 1.5kgf-m at 10500rpm. The six-speed transmission and chain final drive made for a smooth ride. The bike weighed 115kg/253lbs and had a fuel capacity of 21 litres/5.5 US gal, allowing for an average consumption of 18.6 km/lit. The braking distance from 60-0/100-0 was measured at 14.2m/43.1m, and the standing 1/4 mile was completed in 16.7 sec, reaching a top speed of 117.1 km/h. The front suspension consisted of telescopic forks, while the rear suspension was a swing arm gas single shock. The front brake was a single 240mm disc, with a rear drum brake. The front tyre measured 2.75-21, while the rear tyre was 4.10-17. The Gilera RC 125 Rally was tested in a Motosprint 1990 Group Test, and was found to have satisfying results.
