Ducati 100 Cadet / Mountaineer (1965-66)

The Ducati 100 Cadet / Mountaineer were motorcycles produced from 1965-1966. The two-stroke, single cylinder, piston port engine had a capacity of 94cc with a 10.0:1 compression ratio, and was cooled by a fan. The bike featured a Dell’Orto UA 18S carburetor and had a 6V 30W flywheel magneto with a 16-18 spark plug. The Ducati 100 Cadet / Mountaineer had a kick start and maximum power output of 5.3kW / 7.2 hp at 7000 rpm. The clutch was a wet, multiplate type with either three or four-speed transmission options, depending on the year model. The final drive used a chain. The bike had a tubular steel, dual cradle frame and a front telescopic fork with a rear swingarm featuring twin shocks. The drum brakes were 118 mm in the front and rear. The dimensions and weight of the Cadet / Mountaineer differed slightly, with the Cadet being 1810mm / 71.3in in length, 660mm / 26.0in in width, weighing 66 kg / 145 lbs and reaching a top speed of 90 km/h / 56 mph. The Mountaineer was slightly longer and wider, measuring 1830mm / 72.0in in length and 700mm / 27.6in in width. It weighed 68 kg / 150 lbs and had a top speed of 90 km/h / 56 mph. Both versions had different tire sizes, with the Cadet’s front tire being 2.25 x 18 and the Mountaineer’s front tire 2.50 x 16. The rear tire size differed as well, with the Cadet using a 2.50 x 18 tire and the Mountaineer using a 3.25/3.50 x 16 tire. The seat height also differed slightly between the two models.
