The Bimota YB6 was a motorcycle produced in 1988, with only 546 units made. It had a four-stroke transverse four-cylinder engine with 989cc capacity and a compression ratio of 11.0:1. It was liquid-cooled and had 4x 38mm Mikuni BDST induction. It had a maximum power of 103 kW / 140 hp at 9000 rpm and a maximum torque of 107 Nm / 11.5 kg-m / 78.9 lb-ft. at 8500 rpm. The transmission had 5 speeds, and the bike employed a chain as its final drive.
The frame of the YB6 was made of two diagonal beams in section bar, internally ribbed with the cylinders supported by plates bolted to the beams. The swing arm was made of aluminum. The front suspension was 42mm Marzocchi forks with an anti-dive system in the left tube of the fork leg, and a hydraulic brake in the right. The compression and rebound damping were adjustable by four positions. The rear suspension was a single Marzocchi shock absorber, compression and rebound damping were adjustable. The bike’s front brakes consisted of 2x 320mm discs with 4 piston calipers, whereas the rear brake was a single 230mm disc with a 2 piston caliper.
The Bimota YB6 had a fuel capacity of 20 liters or 5.3 US gallons, with a top speed of 260 km/h or 161.6 mph. It was reviewed positively by several publications including Motociclismo, La.Moto, Moto.Revue, and Moto Sprint.
