Bimota Tesi ID 851 (1990-1991)

The Bimota Tesi ID 851 was produced in limited numbers between 1990-1991 with only 127 units made. It is powered by a four-stroke, 90-degree L-twin cylinder, DOHC, desmodromic engine with a displacement of 851cc and a bore x stroke of 92 x 64 mm. The engine is liquid-cooled and features Weber fuel injection and analogue CDI ignition, producing a maximum power of 72.9 kW / 103 hp at 9500 rpm and a maximum torque of 83 Nm / 8.75 kgf-m / 61.2 lb-ft at 8500 rpm. The motorcycle has a six-speed transmission and a chain final drive.

The frame of the bike comprises a pair of upside-down boomerang-shaped plates that envelope the engine on either side, made of machined aluminium alloy. The engine itself has no load-bearing functions, with hinged swing arms made of anticordal alloy at the far ends of the engine. The front suspension consists of a swinging arm with Marzocchi single shock stepless preload 10-way compression and 25-way preload damping adjustment, while the rear suspension is a Marzocchi single shock with the same adjustment capabilities.

The motorcycle dimensions are 2265 mm (length) x 770 mm (width) x 1120 mm (height), with a wheelbase of 1410 mm. It has a dry weight of 188 kg and a fuel capacity of 16 litres. The Bimota Tesi ID 851 features 2x 320mm discs with 2-piston calipers for the front brakes and a single 230mm disc with a 1-piston caliper for the rear brakes. It has a top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph) and features front and rear tires with dimensions of 120/70-17 and 180/55-17, respectively.
