Zero XU (2012)

The 2012 Zero XU motorcycle has a high-efficiency axial flux permanent magnet brushless motor with an integrated forced air cooling system and a high-efficiency 220 amp 3-phase brushless controller with regenerative deceleration. It has a Z-force C patented Li-Ion intelligent portable power pack with a maximum capacity of 3.0 kWh and a nominal capacity of 2.6 kWh. The estimated pack life to 80% is 113,000 miles (182,000 km), and it has a 1kW integrated charger with a standard charge time of 3.1 hours (100% charged). The range is 42 miles (68 km) in the city (EPA UDDS) and 28 miles (45 km) on the highway (commuting at 55 mph). The motorcycle has a lightweight aluminum twin-spar frame, front suspension of 38mm inverted forks with adjustable compression and rebound damping, and a direct-link shock with adjustable spring preload on the rear. The front and rear brakes are single 220mm discs with a two-piston caliper on the front and one on the rear. It has a top speed of 105 km/h (65 mph) sustained and 55 mph (88 km/h) and weighs 100kg (221lb) with a carrying capacity of 113kg (250lb). The motorcycle has a low seat height of 749 mm (29.5 in) and a high seat height of 800 mm (31.5 in).
