Yamaha xs250 (1977-81)

The Yamaha XS 250 is a motorcycle that was produced from 1977-1981. It has a 248cc, four-stroke, 180-degree parallel twin engine with a SOHC and two valves per cylinder. The bike has a bore and stroke of 55 x 52.4mm and a compression ratio of 9.6:1. The lubrication system is a wet sump and it has 2x 32mm Mikuni carburetors for induction. The ignition system is a coil and cb and starting is via a kick. The maximum power output is 27 hp at 9500 rpm and the maximum torque is 2.2 kgf-m at 8500 rpm. The bike has a single 267mm disc brake on the front and a 178mm drum brake on the rear. Front and rear tires are 3.00-18 and 3.50-18, respectively. The wheelbase measures 1359mm and the seat height is 810mm. The bike has a dry weight of 165.5 kg and a wet weight of 174 kg, with a fuel capacity of 14 liters. It was reviewed alongside the Kawasaki Z250 and the Honda CB250N in a 1979 issue of Which Bike magazine.
