The Yamaha XS 500 motorcycle was produced from 1975 to 1976 and featured a four-stroke parallel twin cylinder engine with a capacity of 498cc. The engine was cooled by air and had a compression ratio of 9.8:1. The bike came equipped with a wet sump lubrication system and two 38mm Mikuni carburetors.
