The Yamaha WR 125 was a two-stroke, single-cylinder motorcycle produced between 1990 and 1996. It had a liquid-cooled engine with a capacity of 124cc and a compression ratio of 8.8:1. The bike used a carburetor for induction and CDI for ignition. The WR 125 had a six-speed transmission and a chain final drive. The front suspension was a Marzocchi “Upside-Down” telescopic hydraulic fork with advanced axle, while the rear suspension was a Sachs progressive “Soft Damp” type with a single hydraulic shock absorber. Both had compression and rebound adjustment. The front and rear brakes were both single disc. The bike had a dry weight of 99kg and a fuel capacity of 9.5 liters. Its front tire measured 80/90-21, while the rear tire measured 110/80-18. A road test conducted by Motosprint in 1990 found the Yamaha WR 125 performed well in a group test.
