Yamaha TX500 (1973-74)

The Yamaha TX500 Sport is a motorcycle produced between 1973 and 1974. The bike features a four-stroke, parallel twin-cylinder DOHC engine with a capacity of 498cc/30.5 cu-in, a compression ratio of 9.0:1, and a lubrication system that is wet sump. The Yamaha TX 500 has 2x 38mm Mikuni carburetors, battery and coil ignition, and is equipped with both electric and kick starting.

It can reach a maximum power of 48 hp/36.5 kW at 8500RPM and boasts a maximum torque of 4.5 kgf-m/32.5 lb-ft at 6500 RPM. The gearbox is five-speed, and the final drive is a chain.

The Yamaha TX 500 Sport has a “full cradle frame-Duplex type” and is 100% of circular steel pipes. The suspension on this bike includes a telescopic fork on the front and dual shocks swing arm, preload adjustable in the rear.

Front brakes are single 267mm disc, while the rear ones are a drum. The tires are 3.25-19 and 3.50-18 on the front and rear, respectively. The seat height is 812mm/32 inches, and the wet weight of this bike is 207.7kg/458lbs.
