The Yamaha DT125R was a two-stroke, single cylinder, reed-valve motorcycle produced in 1986-87. Its engine had a capacity of 123cc, a compression ratio of 6.8:1, and was lubricated with autolube oil with a capacity of 1.2 litres. The bike was equipped with a VM24 carburetor and CDI ignition. Its maximum power output was 14 hp at 6500 rpm and maximum torque was 1.5 kgf-m at 6500 rpm. Its clutch was a wet multiplate and it had a 6-speed transmission with a chain final drive. The front suspension was telescopic forks and the rear suspension was a Monocross system. Front and rear brakes were single 230mm and 220mm discs, respectively. The bike had a wheelbase of 1360mm, a seat height of 840mm, and a ground clearance of 270mm. It had a wet weight of 119.0 kg and a fuel capacity of 10 litres, with an average consumption of 20 km/lit. Its braking distance from 60-0 and 100-0 was 16.0m and 43.7m, respectively. The bike had a standing 1/4 mile time of 16.9 seconds at a speed of 115.9 km/h and a top speed of 124.6 km/h. It was reviewed by Moto Sprint in their 1989 Group Test.
