The Suzuki GS 650GL motorcycle was produced from 1981 to 1982 and featured a 673 cc, four-stroke transverse four-cylinder engine with a compression ratio of 9.4:1. It had four 32mm Mikuni carburetors and a transistorized ignition, as well as a five-speed transmission and chain final drive. The bike had a maximum power output of 53.2 kW/73 hp at 9400 rpm and a maximum torque of 57 Nm/ 5.8 kgf-m/ 42 lb-ft at 8000 rpm.
Both front and rear suspensions were included in the bike, with a front air-assisted telescopic fork and a rear dual shock with 5-way preload and 4-way damping. The front brakes featured two 275mm discs and two-piston calipers while the rear brake utilized a single 275mm disc with a one-piston caliper. The bike also came with a 90/90-19 front tyre and a 130/90-16 rear tyre.
