The Suzuki DR 750S Big, produced in 1987, is a four-stroke, single cylinder motorcycle with a capacity of 727cc. It has a compression ratio of 9.5:1 and is air/oil cooled, with a wet sump lubrication system. Electronic ignition by Suzuki PEI and a 12V 50.4kC, 14Ah battery give an output of 37kW/50hp at 6800 rpm with max torque of 55Nm/5.6kgf-m/40.6lb-ft at 5600 rpm. The transmission is a five-speed wet, multi-plate clutch with a chain final drive ratio of 3.200 (48/15) and a DAIDO DID520VL2 chain.
Front and rear suspension are comprised of telescopic, coil spring, air-damped and full floater rising-rate monoshock respectively, with 38mm and 220mm of travel. Braking is 280mm single disc with two piston caliper on the front, and a 160mm drum on the rear. Cast with 39-degree trail and 138mm steering angle, it has a turning radius of 2.3m/7.5ft.
At full capacity, the fuel tank carries 29 liters, consuming an average of 5.9 L/100 km. The bike is 2270mm long, 925mm wide and 1310mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1505mm and a ground clearance of 262mm. It weighs 175kg dry and 195kg wet with a maximum speed of 168.1km/h. In a quarter-mile sprint, it can reach 151.2km/h in 13.6 seconds. This model was reviewed by Adventure Group Test Motosprint in 1988 and 1989.
