The Norton 500 Model 18 and ES2 were motorcycles produced between 1947 and 1954. They had a single cylinder, 4-stroke, side valve engine with a capacity of 490cc and a compression ratio of 6.45:1. The engine was cooled by air and had an Amal Monobloc 276 fuel system and Magneto ignition with kick start. The exhaust system was made by Armours and included a silencer. The maximum power output of the bike was 15.4 kW or 21 hp. The front of the bike had a “Roadholder” fork suspension, while the rear suspension was rigid with a spring-loaded saddle. The ES2 model had a plunger rear suspension. The dry weight of the bike was 169.6 kg or 374 lb and it could reach a top speed of 126 km/h or 78 mph.
