The Laverda RGS 1000 motorcycle was produced in 1983 and featured a four-stroke, transverse three-cylinder engine with a capacity of 981cc / 59.8 cubic inches. The engine had a compression ratio of 8.8:1 and was cooled by air. It was equipped with a Borsch electronic ignition system and 3x 32mm Dell’Orto carbs for induction. The motorcycle had a maximum power output of 83.3 hp / 61.2 kW at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 77.9 Nm / 57.4 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm. The transmission was a 5-speed gearbox, and the final drive was a chain. The Laverda RGS 1000 had a Marzocchi air-assisted fork front suspension and a dual Marzocchi air-assisted fork rear suspension with 5-way spring preload. The front and rear brakes consisted of 2x 280mm discs with 2-piston calipers and a single 280mm disc with 1-piston caliper, respectively. The wet weight of the motorcycle was 253 kg / 558 lbs, and the fuel capacity was 22 litres / 5.8 US gallons. The consumption average was around 41 mpg. It had a top speed of 137 mph and could complete the standing 1/4 mile in 12.5 seconds at 107.8 mph. A group test was conducted in 1985, which included the Laverda RGS 1000.
