The Kawasaki ZXR 400 was produced between 1993 and 1994 and was powered by a four-stroke, four-cylinder, DOHC engine with a capacity of 399cc. It had a compression ratio of 12.0:1 and was cooled by liquid. The bike was equipped with four Keihin CVKD30 carburetors and had transistorized ignition. The bike could produce a maximum power of 59hp at 12,000rpm and a maximum torque of 40Nm at 10,000rpm. The clutch was wet multi-disc and had a six-speed transmission with a final chain drive. The frame was an aluminum diamond tubular, double cradle with 41mm upside-down Showa forks at the front and a Uni-Trek adjustable preload with rebound damping at the rear. The front had 2x 300mm discs and four-piston calipers, and the rear had a single 240mm disc and a two-piston caliper. The bike had a wheelbase of 1395mm, a seat height of 765mm, and a dry weight of 160kg. The bike had a fuel capacity of 16 liters and an average fuel consumption of 18.7 km/l. It could reach a top speed of 215.1 km/h and go from 60-0 / 100 – 0 in 12.5m / 36.9m. The bike completed a standing 1/4 mile in 12.2 seconds, and the Tuttomoto 1994 road test found it to be a powerful and agile bike.
