The Kawasaki KLX 650R is a dual-purpose motorcycle with a liquid-cooled 651cc engine that delivers 48 horsepower and 5.3 kgf-m of torque. It has a single 40mm Keihin CV carburetor and a CDI ignition system, and is kick-started. The bike has a 5-speed transmission, chain final drive, and Kayaba upside-down front suspension with a Kayaba single shock rear suspension. The front and rear brakes are single discs, and the KLX has a 90/90-21 front tyre and a 130/80-17 rear tyre. The bike weighs 145kg dry or 153kg wet, with a fuel capacity of 12 litres, giving it an average fuel consumption of 19km/litre. Its braking distances are 14.1m from 60-0 km/h and 42.03m from 100-0 km/h, and it can cover a quarter-mile in 13.7 seconds at a top speed of 161.2 km/h.
