The Kawasaki GPz 400R or ZX 400 was a motorcycle produced in 1985. It had a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 399cc and a compression ratio of 11.5:1. The induction system included 4 Keihin CVKD30 carburetors and an ignition system with CDI. The bike had an electric starter and could produce a maximum power of 59 hp at 12000 rpm and torque of 3.6 kgf-m at 10500 rpm. The clutch was a wet multi-disc type, and the transmission had six gears with a final drive by chain. The aluminum diamond tubular, double-cradle frame was used with a rising rate monoshock for the rear suspension and telescopic forks at the front. The braking system included a dual-disc system at the front and a single disc with a piston caliper at the rear. The GPz 400R had a wheelbase of 1395 mm, a dry weight of 176 kg, and a fuel tank capacity of 16 litres. The front tire was 100/90-16, and the rear was 130/90-16.
