The Honda CBR900RR Fireblade is a four-stroke motorcycle with a 919cc transverse four-cylinder engine and 4 valves per cylinder. The 1998 model has a compression ratio of 11.1:1, liquid cooling, and a wet sump lubrication system. The bike comes with a 6-speed transmission and a #525 chain with 108 links for final drive. The front suspension has a 45mm Showa cartridge with adjustments for spring preload and rebound damping adjustable. The rear suspension is a Pro-Link with one Showa damper, and adjustments for spring preload, rebound damping, and compression damping. In 1999, Sanyo Honda Britain built the Evo Blade, a tuned edition with a single-sided swingarm and upgraded suspension, costing LB18,000. Overall, the Blade’s engine was slightly updated with a friction-reducing coating on the pistons, and new clocks were fitted. The chassis geometry was also relaxed, and the swingarm was designed to increase stability. honda claimed that over 80% of the Blade had been redesigned.
