In 1990, Gilera released the RC 125 Rally motorcycle which features a two-stroke, single-cylinder, reed valve engine with a capacity of 124cc and a compression ratio of 13.0;1. It uses a Dell’Orto premix induction and electric ignition with capacitive output to start, and has a maximum power of 24hp at 9250 rpm and a maximum torque of 1.5 kgf-m at 10500 rpm. The bike has a six-speed transmission and a chain final drive. Its front suspension consists of telescopic forks while the rear suspension uses a swing arm gas single shock. The front has a single 240mm disc brakes while the rear has a drum. Its front tyre is sized at 2.75-21 and the rear is 4.10-17. The bike has a dry weight of 115 kg/253 lbs, and a fuel capacity of 21 litres/5.5 US gal. It has an average fuel consumption of 18.6 km/lit and can reach a top speed of 134.1 km/h. The Gilera RC 125 Rally also has a braking distance of 14.2m for 60-0 km/h and 43.1m for 100-0 km/h. In Motosprint’s 1990 Group Test, the motorcycle stood at 1/4 mile in 16.7 sec/117.1 km/h.
