The Ducati Monster 600, produced in 1994-95, was a four-stroke motorcycle with a 583cc engine featuring a 90 degrees L twin cylinder, SOHC, desmodromic 2 valves per cylinder. The bike had a compression ratio of 10.7:1, a wet sump lubrication system and ran on synthetic, 10W/40 engine oil. Induction was accomplished via 2 x 38 mm Mikuni carburetors, and the bike was powered by an analogue CDI spark ignition system, with a 12V 16Ah battery to power the electric starting mechanism. The bike had a maximum power output of 38.7 kW / 53 hp at 8250 rpm, and a maximum torque of 48.00 Nm / 4.9 kgf-m / 35.4 ft-lb at 7000 rpm. The wet, cable-operated clutch worked in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission and a primary drive ratio of 2.28:1 (32/73) to produce gear ratios of 1st: 2.500 / 2nd: 1.714 / 3rd: 1.333 / 4th: 1.074 / 5th: 0.966:1. The final drive ratio was 2.6:1 (15/39), and the bike was chain-driven.
