The Ducati 900SS was produced from 1998-2000 and had a four-stroke L-twin cylinder, SOHC, desmodromic 2 valve per cylinder, belt-driven engine with a capacity of 904 cc / 55.2 cu in. Its 90-degree engine generated a maximum power output of 58.3 kW / 80 hp at 7500 rpm and maximum torque of 77.2 Nm / 7.9 kgf-m / 57 ft-lb at 6500 rpm. The bike had a 6-speed transmission with a primary drive ratio of 1.84:1 and a final drive ratio of 2.666:1. It had a tubular chrome moly steel trestle frame and was equipped with 43mm Showa GD 131 upside-down forks at the front and Showa GD 132 progressive linkage monoshock at the rear with both being preload, compression, and rebound adjustable. The front was fitted with 2 x 320 mm discs, 4-piston calipers while the rear had a single 245 mm disc, 2-piston caliper as brakes. It used a 120/70 ZR17 tyre at the front and a 170/60 ZR17 tyre at the rear. It had a fuel capacity of 16 L / 4.2 US gal / 3.5 Imp gal and a weight of 197 kg / 434 lbs. The bike could reach a top speed of 230.8 km/h / 143.4 mph with a 0-100 km/h being completed in 3.7 seconds. It could also stop from 100 km/h to 0 in 37.8 m / 124.0 ft and covered the standing quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds with a top speed of 192.0 km/h / 119 mph.
