The Ducati 748 Biposto, manufactured in 1997-98, is a four-stroke L-twin cylinder, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valve per cylinder motorcycle. It has a 748cc/45.6 cu in engine with a 11.5:1 compression ratio and a maximum power of 72.1 kW/98 hp at 1100 rpm. The motorcycle has a dry, multi-plate, hydraulic control clutch and a six-speed transmission. The front suspension has a Showa GD051, fully adjustable inverted type with 43 mm diameter stanchions, while the rear suspension has a Showa GD052-007-02 progressive linkage with an adjustable monoshock. The bike has a trestle type frame constructed of “ALS 450” steel alloy with a brake system of 2 x 320mm discs, 4 piston calipers in the front, and a single 220mm disc, 1 piston caliper in the rear. The 748 Biposto has a fuel capacity of 17 litres/4.5 US gal/3.7 Imp gal, which offers an average consumption of 5.8 L/100 km/17.3 km/l/40.7 US mpg/48.9 Imp mpg. The motorcycle has a top speed of 248.7 km/h/154.3 mph and can reach 0-60 km/h in 13.3 m/43.6 ft and 0-100 km/h in 37.7 m/123.7 ft. Motoplus conducted a road test of the Ducati 748 Biposto.
