The Ducati 175 Americano was a popular motorcycle model produced between the years 1957 and 1960. The engine was a four stroke, single cylinder, SOHC with a capacity of 174.5 cc and 2 valves per cylinder. The bike was air cooled and used a Dell’Orto MB22B carburetor for induction. With a compression ratio of 7:1, the bike had a maximum power output of 8.2 kW (11 hp) at 7500 rpm. The clutch was multi wet plate while the transmission had a 4 speed option. The final drive was chain and the bike had a maximum speed of 110 km/h (68 mph). The frame was a single cradle tubular design with hydraulic telescopic forks as front suspension and swingarm dual shocks as rear suspension. Braking was through drums at both wheels, and the bike was fitted with a 6V 40W generator. The dry weight of the bike was 118 kg (260 lbs) with a seat height of 800 mm (31.5 in). The bike had a length of 1980 mm (78.0 in), height of 1040mm (40.09 in), wheelbase of 1320 mm (52 in), and fuel capacity of 17L (4.5 US gal, 3.7 Imp gal). Overall, the Ducati 175 Americano was a solidly built bike that remained popular with riders of the time.
