The Ducati 125 Turismo Speciale was produced between 1958 and 1965. Its four-stroke, single-cylinder engine had a capacity of 124.4cc and was driven by an OHC and bevel gear system. The bike had a compression ratio of 7.0:1, was air-cooled, and had forced oil sump lubrication. Its Dell’Orto UB18BS or ME18BS carburetor provided induction. Ignition was battery and coil with a 6V 40W generator, while its starting system was a kick. The maximum power produced was 5.2 kW/7 hp at 7000 rpm. The front suspension consisted of hydraulically damped telescopic forks with a Marzocci system, and the rear suspension was a swingarm with dual shocks and 3-way adjustability. The front and rear brakes were drum brakes, with the front drum brake measuring 158 mm and the rear 136 mm. Its front and rear tyres measured 2.50 – 17 CEAT and 2.75 – 17 CEAT respectively. The fuel capacity of the bike was 16 L/4.2 US gal/3.5 Imp gal, and its top speed was 90 km/h/56 mph.
