BMW R 1200ST (2005)

The BMW R 1200ST motorcycle was produced in 2005, featuring a four-stroke, two-cylinder horizontally opposed boxer engine with a 1170cc capacity, air/oil cooling, and four valves per cylinder. The bike had a compression ratio of 11.0:1, digital engine management for ignition, and started via electric power from a maintenance-free 12V/14Ah battery. The three-phase alternator produced a powerful 720W. The maximum output was 81 kW/110 hp at 7500 rpm, while the bike’s maximum torque was 115 Nm/11.7 kgf-m/85 lb-ft at 6000 rpm. The system-run enclosed driveshaft had two universal joints with a final drive ratio of 2.62:1. The motorcycle had a three-section frame, including a front and rear section and a load-bearing engine-gearbox unit. The front suspension featured a 110 mm/4.3 in wheel travel, while the rear suspension had a BMW motorrad Telelever, central spring strut, and electronically adjustable rebound damping. The front brakes featured two 305mm discs with four-piston calipers, while the rear brakes had a single 265mm disc and two-piston caliper. The fuel tank had a capacity of 21 liters/5.5 US gallons, plus an additional 4 liters/1 US gallon for reserve fuel. The average fuel consumption was 5.6 L/100km/17.9 km/L/42.1 US mpg, and the top speed rode up to 233.6 km/h or 145 mph.
