The Aprilia RST 1000 Futura motorcycle was produced in 2002 and had a four stroke, longitudinal 60 degrees V twin engine with a capacity of 997.6 cc. It had a fuel injection induction and a wet sump lubrication system. The ignition was digital electronic with two spark plugs per cylinder and it had an electric start. The maximum power was 83 kW or 113 hp at 9250 RPM with a rear tyre output of 101.8 hp. The maximum torque was 96 Nm or 70.8 lb-ft at 7250 RPM. The clutch was a wet, multiple disc, cable operated system, and it had a 6-speed transmission with a final chain drive. The frame was made of aluminum with twin spars and the front suspension was a Showa upside-down ~A43 mm fork with adjustable rebound and preload, and had a wheel travel of 120 mm. The rear suspension had a swing arm made of aluminum alloy with a progressive linkage, and Sachs hydraulic shock absorber that was adjustable for rebound and preload.
