The Aprilia 125 Pegaso motorcycle was produced from 1989-90 and featured a two-stroke, single cylinder engine with reed valves and a capacity of 124cc. The bore and stroke were 54 x 54.5mm, and the compression ratio was 14.0:1. The bike was liquid-cooled and used a dry sump lubrication system with an external oil pump. The induction used a Dell’Orto carburetor with a diameter of about 34mm, and it started with an electric starter. The maximum power output was 23 kW (31 hp) at 10,000 rpm, and the maximum torque was 22.5 Nm (2.3 kgf-m, 16.6 ft-lb) at 8,500 rpm. The clutch was wet and cable-operated, and it had a six-speed transmission with a final drive chain. The frame was a steel double cradle with 28 degrees of rake and 100 mm (3.9 in) of trail. The front suspension used about 41 mm inverted telescopic forks with 210 mm (8.3 in) of travel, while the rear suspension was a single shock with preload adjustable and 220 mm (8.7 in) of travel. The front brake was a single ~A300 mm disc with a 2-piston caliper.
