Ducati 996R (2001)

The Ducati 996 R is a limited production motorcycle, with only 500 units being produced in 2001. It has a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 90-degree L twin cylinder engine with a 996 cc capacity and DOHC, desmodromic 4 valve per cylinder. The engine has a compression ratio of 11.5:1 and uses a wet sump lubrication system with synthetic 15W-50 oil. Induction is provided by a Weber Marelli CPU 5.9M system with 54mm throttle bodies and Champion RG4HC spark plugs, ignited by a digital CDI. The bike is capable of producing a max power of 100 kW/135 hp at 10200 rpm and a max torque of 105 Nm/10.3 kgf-m/77.4 ft-lb at 8000 rpm. The clutch is hydraulically activated and the bike has a six-speed transmission with a final drive ratio of 2.4:1 with a chain drive. The bike’s suspension is adjustable for compression and rebound damping with a 43mm Ohlins shock on the front and a mono shock on the rear. The front brakes consist of two 320mm discs and 4-piston calipers, while the back uses a single 220mm disc and 2-piston caliper. The wheels are alloy with a 3.50 X 17 in. on the front and a 5.50 X 17 in. on the back. The bike has a length of 2030mm, width of 780mm, and height of 1080mm, with a wheelbase of 1410mm and a seat height of 790mm. The dry weight of the bike is 185 kg (408 lbs) and it has a fuel capacity of 17 liters (4.5 US gal / 3.7 Imp gal). The bike has an average consumption of 5.9 L per 100km, along with a top speed of 281.5 km/h (174.9 mph) and is capable of reaching a 1/4 mile in 10.1 seconds.
