Yamaha XT600 (1984)

The Yamaha XT 600 motorcycle was first introduced in 1984 with a four-stroke, single cylinder, SOHC, 4 valve engine with a capacity of 595 cc / 36.3 cu-in. The bike had a cooling system that combined both oil and air for optimal performance. The compression ratio was 8.5:1 and the engine used a 27mm Dual stage Teikei Y 27 PV carburetor for induction. The bike had a CDI ignition and was equipped with a I2V/12Ah battery. The bike was only starting kick but still produced a maximum power of 46 hp / 34 kW @ 6000 rpm with a max power rear tire of 38.0 hp @ 6000 rpm. In addition, the bike had a maximum torque of 4.5 kgf-m / 51 Nm @ 5750 rpm.

The transmission was a five-speed with final drive through a chain. The front suspension was a telescopic air assisted system with a wheel travel of 255 mm / 10.0 in and the rear suspension was a monoshock swing arm with a wheel travel of 236 mm / 9.2 in. The front brakes had a single 267mm disc while the rear brakes were a 150mm drum. The dimensions of the bike were length 2290 mm / 90.0 in, width 845 mm / 33.2 in and height 1100 mm / 43.3 in with a wheelbase of 1435 mm / 56.4 in. The seat height was 860 mm / 33.8 in with a ground clearance of 260 mm / 10.2 in. The dry weight of the bike was 137 kg with a fuel capacity of 11 litres.

The average fuel consumption was reported at 61 mpg and the braking distance from 60 – 0 / 100 – 0 was not reported while the standing 1/4 mile was at 13.7 sec / 94.8 mph 152.6 km/h. The top speed of the Yamaha XT 600 was 100 mph / 160 km/h.
