The Yamaha YZF 1000 R1 ‘Ago’ Special Edition motorcycle was released in 2011. It features a transverse four-cylinder, DOHC engine with 998 cc capacity and a synthetic, 10W/40 engine oil. The Mikuni 45mm throttle body FI and TCI-controlled ignition provide improved performance, generating 133.9 kW or 182 hp at 12500 rpm, and 115.5 Nm or 11.8 kgf-m at 10000 rpm.

The Yamaha R1 has a six-speed transmission with a “O” ring chain final drive and a cable-operated multiplate wet slipper clutch.
