Velocette Venom Thruxton (1965-70)

The Velocette Venom Thruxton motorcycle was produced between 1965 and 1970. It featured a single cylinder, four stroke, OHV engine with a capacity of 499 cc and a compression ratio of 9.0:1, capable of producing a maximum power output of 41 horsepower at 6200 rpm. The bike was started with a kick and had a dry sump lubrication system with an Amal 5GP2 carburetor and a single, megaphone exhaust. The ignition system was a Miller D6 with an auto volt regulation, and the battery was 6V with a 60W output.

The Venom Thruxton had a four-speed constant mesh, close ratio transmission with a dry, three-plate clutch and a chain final drive. The front suspension was a telescopic fork with hydraulic damping and the rear suspension featured Woodhead-Monroe springs with hydraulic damping, which were later replaced by Armstrong and Girling and were adjustable.
