Veloce 2.5 hp (1909-18)

The Veloce 2.5 hp and 2.75 hp motorcycles were manufactured from 1909 to 1918. These bikes had a two-stroke, single cylinder engine with a capacity of 276 cc and a bore x stroke of 70 x 76 mm for the 2.5 hp version and 76 x 76 mm for the 2.75 hp version. The engine was air-cooled and had mechanical lubrication. The carburetor was either a Senspray or AMAC. The exhaust valve lifter was operated by Bowden wire from the handlebar, and the ignition was an Eiseman high tension, waterproof system. The bikes were started via pedal and had a maximum power output of 1.8 kW / 2.5 hp or 2.0 kW / 2.75 hp. The transmission was via a 3/4 V-shaped belt from Dunlop, and the final drive was either a belt (for a single speed) or chain (for a two-speed). The bike’s frame had a special design with a long wheelbase and a low position, and it had Druid Patent spring forks as the front suspension and a spring-loaded seat for the rear. The front and rear brakes were Bowden and foot-operated, respectively. The wheels were spoked, and the tyres were Dunlop studded 21/4 x 26-inch BE. The fuel capacity was 6.6 L / 1.75 US gal, and the saddle was an XL’ALL. The bike came equipped with two pannier tool bags that contained a complete tool kit. The colour of the bike was enamel black with a decorated tank.
