The Triumph Daytona 955i (2002) is a four-stroke, transverse three-cylinder, DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder and a capacity of 955cc or 54.0 cu-in. It has a bore and stroke of 79 x 65 mm and is liquid-cooled with a compression ratio of 12.0:1. The engine uses wet sump lubrication and synthetic 15W/40 synthetic engine oil. The bike also features multipoint sequential electronic injection, digital inductive ignition, and NGK DPR8EA-9 spark plugs. The motorcycle is electrically started, and it produces a maximum power of 110 kW or 147 hp at 10700 rpm and 100 Nm, 10.2 kgf-m or 74 lb-ft of torque at 8200 rpm. The bike has a wet, multi-plate clutch and a six-speed transmission with an O-ring chain final drive.
The frame of the bike is made of tubular, fabricated aluminum alloy perimeter, and swingarm twin-sided aluminum alloy with an eccentric chain adjuster. The front suspension comes with 45 mm forks with dual-rate springs and adjustable preload, compression, and rebound damping. Meanwhile, the rear suspension features a monoshock with adjustable preload, compression, and rebound damping. The front brakes use 2 x 320 mm discs with four-piston calipers, while the rear brake has a single 220 mm disc with a two-piston caliper. The bike has an alloy 3 spoke, 17 x 3.5 inch front wheel and an alloy 3 spoke, 17 x 6.0 inch rear wheel, with front and rear tyres 120/70 ZR17 and 190/50 ZR17 respectively.
The bike comes with a rake of 22.5 o and a trail of 79 mm or 3.1 inches. The dimensions of the bike are length 2072 mm, width 725 mm, and height 1165 mm, with a wheelbase of 1426 mm and seat height of 815mm or 32.1 inches. The bike weighs 188 kg or 414 lbs, with a fuel capacity of 21 litres or 5.5 US gal or 4.6 Imp gal. It can reach a top speed of 263 km/h or 163.5 mph. According to Motorcycle.com, the Triumph Daytona 955i is a “stellar sporting machine” that boasts a “cracking chassis, top brakes, and more character than a lot of its Japanese counterparts.”
