Suzuki TS250 (1973-75)

The Suzuki TS250 was a two-stroke, single-cylinder motorcycle produced from 1973 to 1975. It had a capacity of 246 cc, with a bore and stroke of 72 x 64 mm and a compression ratio of 6.7:1. The engine was air-cooled with a fuel/oil mix and Posi-force lubrication system. The bike had a single, high drawn exhaust and used a Mikuni VM28SH carburetor. It could produce a maximum power of 17.2 kW / 23 hp at 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 26.5 Nm / 2.7 kgf-m / 19.6 lb-ft at 5000 rpm. The clutch was a wet, multi-plate system with a 5-speed, constant mesh transmission and chain final drive.

The front suspension featured a telescopic fork, oil-damped with 175 mm / 6.9 in of wheel travel. The rear suspension was a swingarm with dual shocks, coil springs, and 5-way adjustability. The braking system had drum, internal expanding brakes on both the front and rear wheels. The TS250 had a wheelbase of 1415 mm / 55.7 in with ground clearance of 249 mm / 9.8 in. It weighed 111 kg / 245 lbs with a fuel tank capacity of 9.1 L / 2.4 US gal / 2.0 Imp gal and an oil capacity of 1.1 L / 2.3 US pt / 1.9 Imp pt. Its top speed was estimated at 129 km/h / 80 mph.

The Suzuki TS250 was a capable off-road motorcycle that offered a reliable and powerful ride. Its lightweight design and maneuverability made it suitable for various terrains. However, its drum brake system could be tricky to use in extreme conditions, and riders had to be cautious not to overheat the engine due to the fuel/oil mix system. Overall, the TS250 remains a classic model that paved the way for future Suzuki dirt bikes.
