The Suzuki RG400 was a two-stroke, square four-cylinder motorcycle produced from 1985-86. The engine had a capacity of 397cc and a compression ratio of 7.0:1. It featured a liquid cooling system and Suzuki CCI lubrication with oil pump injection. The induction system included 4 x 28mm Mikuni VM28SH flatslide carburetors, and it had a Suzuki PEI ignition with a kick start. The max power output was 43.1 kW/59 hp at 9000 rpm, and the max torque was 48 Nm/4.9 kgf-m/35.4 lb-ft at 8500 rpm. It used a wet, 8-plate clutch and a 6-speed transmission with a chain final drive. The frame had a double downtube, full cradle, box section aluminum perimeter frame, and a rake of 25.5o with a trail of 110mm/4.3in. It had air adjustable fork front suspension with 38mm tubes, adjustable spring preload, and anti-dive valving, as well as a full floating system rear suspension with an adjustable shock absorber for spring preload. The front brakes included 2 x 260mm discs with 4-piston calipers, and the rear brakes had a single 210mm disc with a 2-piston caliper. The dimensions of the motorcycle were a length of 2100mm/82.7in, width of 695mm/27.4in, height of 1185mm/46.7in, a wheelbase of 1425mm/56.1in, and a ground clearance of 120mm/4.7in with a seat height of 770mm/30.3in. The dry weight was 154kg/340lbs, while the wet weight was 181kg/399lbs with a fuel capacity of 22 liters/5.8 US gal/4.8 Imp gal, and a fuel reserve of 5 liters/1.3 US gal/1.1 Imp gal. It could reach a standing 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds, standing 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, and a top speed of 205 km/h/127.4 mph.
