The Suzuki GSX400F Katana was a motorcycle produced between 1985 and 1986. It had a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, DOHC engine that had 4 valves per cylinder with a capacity of 398cc. The compression ratio was 10.2:1, and the cooling system was air-cooled with a wet sump lubrication system. The bike had 4 x Mikuni BS26SS carburetors and fully transistorized ignition with an electric starter that was powered by a 12V 12Ah battery. The maximum power output was 30.8 kW or 41.3 hp at 10,500 rpm with a maximum torque of 30.2 Nm or 3.1 kgf-m or 22.3 lb-ft at 8500 rpm. It had a wet, multiplate clutch and a 6-speed transmission with a chain final drive. The front suspension was telescopic fork oil dampened with a front wheel travel of 150mm and the rear a swingarm, dual shocks, oil dampened, and a spring 5-way adjustable with a travel of 107mm. Brakes were 2 x discs on the front and a single disc on the rear with a steering angle of 42 degrees. The bike had a length of 2105mm, width of 750mm, height of 1135mm, wheelbase of 1415mm, and ground clearance of 165mm. The seat height was 780mm, and the dry weight of the bike was 179kg.
