The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder motorcycle with a capacity of 988cc and a bore x stroke of 73 x 59 mm. It has a compression ratio of 12.0:1 and is cooled with liquid. The lubrication system is wet sump and synthetic, 10W/40 engine oil is used. The exhaust is 4 into 1, stainless steel and the induction system is electronic fuel injection with four 42 mm throttle bodies. It has electronic ignition with transistorized ignition and starts with electric power. The clutch is a cable-operated multiplate wet clutch. The max power is 119.5 kW / 162 hp @ 10800 rpm and the max torque is 120 Nm / 12.2 kgf-m / 88.5 ft -lb @ 8500rpm (RAM air). It has a six-speed, constant mesh transmission with a #525 chain, 110 links for final drive. The primary drive ratio is 1.553 (73/47) and the final drive ratio is 2.470 (42/17). The frame is made of aluminium, twin spar.
