The Suzuki DR 250S motorcycle was produced from 1984 to 1988, featuring a four-stroke, single cylinder, SOHC engine with 4 valves and TSCC technology. It had a capacity of 249 cc and a compression ratio of 8.9:1. The engine was air-cooled and used a wet sump lubrication system, with a Mikuni BS34SS carburetor for induction and a Suzuki PEI ignition system. The bike had a maximum power output of 16.5 kW at 8500 rpm and a maximum torque of 19.5 Nm at 6500 rpm.
The clutch was a wet, multi-plate design and the transmission had 5 speeds with constant mesh. The final drive was via a chain. The front suspension was provided by air/oil telescopic forks, with 148 mm of wheel travel. The rear suspension featured a gas/oil full floater design with preload and damping adjustability and also had 148 mm of wheel travel. The front brake was disc and hydraulically operated, while the rear brake was a drum type that used internal expanding. The front tire was a 3.00-21, 4PR.
