Sunbeam Model 8 (1924-31)

The Sunbeam Model 8 motorcycle was produced between 1924 and 1931. It was powered by a single cylinder, air-cooled, OHV engine with a capacity of 347cc. The engine’s bore and stroke measured 70 x 90mm and it had a dry sump lubrication system. The bike featured an AMAC carburettor and a single exhaust. It had a kick starter and produced 2.1kW/2.75hp of power. The transmission offered 3-speeds and the final drive was via chain.

The frame of the Sunbeam Model 8 had a unique bifurcated front down tube design, while the front suspension had Druid forks. The bike’s rear suspension was rigid but had a spring loaded saddle. It had drum brakes at the front and rear that were of the internal expanding type. The wheels were made of steel and laced with wire spokes.

The Sunbeam Model 8 was manufactured by Marston-Sunbeam, a British motorcycle company.
