Norton NRS 588 (1992-93)

The Norton NRS 588 motorcycle was produced between 1992-93 and features a twin rotor rotary engine with a capacity of 588 cc. The bike has a liquid cooling system, 9.2:1 compression ratio, and twin flat slide downdraught carburetors for induction. The ignition is triggered by a Norton reluctor, and the bike has electric starting. The NRS 588 produces a maximum power of 101 kW / 135 hp @ 9800 rpm and a maximum torque of 105.6 Nm / 10.77 kgf-m / 78 lb-ft @ 8000 rpm. The clutch is an 18-plate “wet” clutch using sintered bronze friction plates and diaphragm spring, and the transmission is a Norton six-speed constant mesh. The bike weighs 135 kg / 298 lbs and has a fabricated aluminum twin-spar frame designed by Ron Williams, fabricated by Harris Performance, and assembled by JPS Norton Racing. The suspension consists of White Power upside-down forks at the front and a multiple cantilever single shock at the rear. The front brakes have twin ~A310 mm discs with four-piston, one-piece Lockheed calipers, while the rear brake has a single ~A210 mm disc with a twin-piston Lockheed caliper. The NRS 588 has three-spoke magnesium wheels, with a 3.75 x 17″ front rim and a 6.00 x 17″ rear rim.
