The Matchless G2 CSR motorcycle was produced between 1962-65 and had a single cylinder, four-stroke engine with a capacity of 242cc. It was air-cooled with a compression ratio of 9.5:1 and used dry sump lubrication with SAE 30/SAE 50 engine oil. The bike featured a kick start, multi-plate wet clutch and a 4-speed transmission with a chain final drive.
The front suspension had hydraulic damping while the rear suspension was controlled by Girling 3-position spring-and-hydraulic units. Brakes were 152mm/6in drum with finger adjustment at both the front and back, and the bike had laced wire-spoked steel wheels with 3.25 x 17 inch tires. The fuel capacity was 14.8L/3.9 US gallons with an average consumption of 3.6L/100km/27.6 km/l or 65 US mpg.
The Matchless G2 CSR had a top speed of 121 km/h or 75 mph and came in red or black. Overall, the bike received a favorable review from Motor Cycle in February 1966.
