Maico MD 250 (1971-83)

The Maico MD 250 was a motorcycle produced from 1971-1983. It was powered by a single cylinder, two-stroke SOHC engine with a capacity of 245cc and had a compression ratio of 11.7:1 or 12:1 depending on the model. It used a carburetor and had a S.E.E.S. exhaust system with a pointless ignition. The bike was available in different versions with different methods of starting- kick or push. The MD 250 Cup was the most powerful, boasting 37hp at 8600 rpm while the MD 250 and MD 250 WK offered 28hp at 7000 rpm. The transmission was 6-speed with a chain final drive, and the clutch was wet and cable operated. The motorcycle had a double-loop tubular frame and a Ceriani fork for front suspension and Girling shocks for rear suspension. The brakes were drum, with a 180mm front and rear tire sizes of 2.75 x 18 in. and 3.25 x 18 in. The wet weight was 126 kg with a fuel capacity of 12.5 L. The Maico MD 250 was available in several colors: red, blue, yellow, and green. It could reach a top speed of 99 mph or 159 km/h.
