Kawasaki ZXR 400 (1989-90)

The Kawasaki ZXR 400 motorcycle was produced in 1989 and 1990. It has a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 399 cc (24.3 cu-in). The bike has a compression ratio of 12.0:1 and uses a 4x Keihin CVKD30 carburetor system. The ignition is transistorized and the bike has an electric starter. The ZXR 400 has a maximum power of 59 hp (44 kW) at 12000 rpm and a maximum torque of 40 Nm (29.5 lb-ft) at 10000 rpm. It has a six-speed transmission with chain final drive.

The bike has an aluminum diamond tubular, double cradle frame and features an adjustable preload with rebound damping on the front and rear suspension. The front brakes consist of 2x 300mm discs with four-piston calipers, while the rear brake is a single 240mm disc with a two-piston caliper. The front tire is 120/60-17, while the rear tire is 160/60-17. The wheelbase of the bike is 1395 mm (54.9 in) and it has a seat height of 765 mm (30.1 in).

It was road tested by Motosprint in 1990 and 1991.
